TMJ

The jaw is a hinge joint connecting to the skull. It is surrounded by muscles that allow you to chew, yawn, speak, and swallow. TMJ occurs due to misalignments of the skull bones and neck vertebrae.

Common causes of TMJ are grinding of the teeth, poor posture, and accidents, which can lead to pain around the jaw, ear and face, as well as headaches and neck pain.

Effective, holistic therapies for TMJ include manual chiropractic adjustments to the jaw, neck and spine. Dr. Lux will also utilize Applied Kinesiology, cranial therapy, and NET (Neuro-Emotional Technique) to help heal TMJ.

Additional treatments include ultra-sound therapy, acupuncture, and electric muscle stimulation. Dr. Lux may also recommend nutritional supplements to help with the TMJ healing process.
