Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the oldest traditional healing practices in the world. Originating in China, acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to treat the whole person by targeting specific acupuncture points on the body. It is based on the understanding that the mind, body and spirit are connected. When one aspect is out of balance, others can be adversely affected.

Acupuncture is an effective treatment for a wide range of injuries and illnesses. Conditions that respond well to acupuncture include: back pain, sciatica, headache, migraine and knee pain. Other health problems that also benefit from acupuncture include menstrual pain, menopausal hot flashes, neck and shoulder pain, and sinus problems.

Acupuncture encourages the body’s own natural self-healing capacity to promote health, prevent illness, help relieve pain, and restore normal function.

Acupuncture  involves inserting extremely fine, sterile, disposable needles made of stainless steel along defined meridians of the body that are then manipulated by hand. People experience acupuncture differently, but most feel little or no pain as the needles are inserted.

For those who are needle shy, a mild electrical stimulation method is also offered. In addition, cool laser acupuncture is available. Both methods are great for children.

Some people feel energized by acupuncture/acupressure treatment, others find it relaxing.

With over 35 years of experience Dr. Lux is able to diagnosis the underlying source of your pain and determine which method of acupuncture or acupressure therapy would be the most effective.
